In 1948, amidst the dawn of Midland’s Oil Boom, Dr. Jake Roden transformed a humble house at M Street and Illinois into a delivery unit. Remarkably, he was the sole Board-certified Obstetrician between El Paso and Ft. Worth, and under his guidance, over 800 babies were born in that unit. As Midland flourished, Midland Memorial Hospital was inaugurated in 1950. Dr. Roden then expanded his team by welcoming Dr. Walter Parks in 1951, Dr. Garland Lang in 1953, and Dr. C. Roy Johnson in 1956. Together, they envisioned the Midland Women’s Clinic, which started operations in 1958 at West Wall Street. By 1963, with the addition of Dr. Charles Guerriero, M.W.C. became a distinguished clinic, housing one of the only two sets of four physician OB-GYN teams in the U.S.

As the years progressed, M.W.C. continuously evolved. In 1999, they strategically relocated to the medical office building on Andrews Highway, optimizing patient care by being just a minute away from crucial medical facilities. Notable additions to the team include Dr. David DeShan in 1990, who digitized their medical records, Dr. Brady Locke in 2001, who enriched their urodynamic capabilities, and Dr. Ben Doke in 2006, a pioneer in vaginal reconstruction procedures.
By 2004, the clinic grew to include physician assistants and further expanded its team of dedicated professionals. By 2015, they had nine providers, marking a substantial growth. M.W.C. subsequently relocated near the main campus of Midland Memorial to leverage the services of the newly renovated hospital.
